MY FINAL FEEDBACK

Good morning Argenis. I think that you're a great teacher and a great person. I think that you treated us very well and always you has been very concerned about our learning. You never made fun of one of your students and always you has been very respectful. I also believe that you have much knowledge of the subject that you teach. However, I have been under much stress, so I've had family problems for English classes. I believe that this course has been designed for people who do not work and have much extra time to devote to study. In our case, time is very limited and we split it between our work, our family and study English.  Normally, the extraclase time required to us is too much and we had a hard time maintaining this course.
I also want to criticize the songs that you play on the class, because, in my opinion, they were a waste of time because I  understand hardly anything of them.
Something positive, I think, now I feel safer and have noticed that on many occasions, I think in English, that is, when I realize I have thoughts in this language. Maybe it's that I'm going crazy about English classes or I'm improving my learning.
Thanks a lot.

CRIMES

CRIMES:
Crime is the violation of rules or laws for which any governmental authority can impose a punishment.
In my opinion, three of the most heinous crimes are murder, hijacking a plane and a burglary with violence for the habitants of a house.
Murder, of course, is the crime that we have most fear, because it is taking the life of a human. It tries to kill another person. No matter if the murderer has motives or hasn't justification, when we talk about a murder is a heinous and repugnant crime. Nobody has the right to kill another human.  Life should always be respected.
The hijacking of a airplane is one of the crimes that I have more afraid, because I have very much afraid of flying, and after that, being hijacked, is the most awful thing that can happen to a person.
The problem of hijacking a plane is the strong possibility that people die and the enormous economic damage it causes to the airline.
Burglary with violence is serious because the people feel safe in their homes.  Finding strangers into our homes is awful and people feel that they stole your privacy.
In summary, any crime is despicable and I think that government authorities should put strong hand to stop the crimes and punish criminals.

Dido - See the Sun lyrics

See the Sun
Dido

I'm comin' 'round to open the blinds
You can't hide here any longer
My God you need to rinse those puffy eyes
You can't last here any longer

And yes they'll ask you where you've been
And you'll have to tell them again and again

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

Come on take my hand
We're going for a walk, I know you can
You can wear anything as long as it's not black
Please don't mourn forever
She's not coming back

And yes they'll ask you where you've been
And you'll have to tell them again and again

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

Do you remember telling me you found the sweetest thing of all
You said one day this was worth dying for
So be thankful you knew her at all
But it's no more

And you probably don't want to hear tomorrow's another day
Well I promise you you'll see the sun again
And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again
And I promise you you'll see the sun again

And I promise you you'll see the sun again
And I promise you you'll see the sun again
I promise you you'll see the sun again

See the sun again
See the sun again
See the sun again
See the sun again

See the sun again
See the sun again
See the sun again
See the sun again

Comments:

I really liked this song by its rhythm and lyrics are mesmerizing. The singer has a great voice.

This song is about a young man who lost a love and not want to continue with his life.

The phrase that says "see the sun again" refers to that life must continue and must stand up and move on.

The expression "open the blinds" could refer to open the eyes.

And one of the most impressive phrases is:

"And you're asking me why pain's the only way to happiness
And I promise you you'll see the sun again".

Really, no matter the pain that we have, this too shall pass and better days are ahead, and we'll see the sun again.

Thanks.

Savage Garden - Affirmation (with lyrics)

Affirmation Lyrics
Savage Garden

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse tv evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye(Repeat 2)
Until you say goodbye
Oh no no no no no ( Repeats itself many times fading)

Comments:
Awesome!

Everything that I believe is in this song.

I like so much that every sentence starts with "I believe".

I believe the lyrics in the parte that say "I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness" not is true. Maybe it should say happiness, not unhappines, because if not the rest of the song have not sense.

The law of karma is the law that links in a wise and intelligent manner the effect with its cause. Everything good or bad that we have done in any of our lives will bring good or bad consequences for this or coming existences. We should not forget the Christian proverbs: "the one who sows rays will reap storms"; "with the stick that you measure others, you will be measured", "eye for one eye" and "the one who by iron kills, by iron dies".

I believe in the law of karma and I believe that, in the heaven or in the earth, everything is paid.

NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE

Comments:

I like this article because it is related with the topic of the last class about crimes.
This article refers to two powerful bombs that were found in two cargo planes and they were destined to the United States.
These bombs were shipped from Yemen in two different airplanes and were intercepted in Britain and Dubai.
It is very disturbing to know that terrorists are always trying to attack other countries like the United States.
Many innocent people could die if the bombs explode inside the plane or in their final destination.
After the 911 attacks, air travel is a great risk to people.  The aviation world changed dramatically.
I think that terrorism is the most dirty and cowardly crime that exists, because the terrorists kill in a single event a lot of innocent people who have not chance to defend themselves. It's a very planned and bloody crime.
The world has changed since the 911 attack, and apparently will never be the same as before.
Thanks a lot.

FAMOUS QUOTES

Quote # 1:
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela
I think that the education is very powerful, but also it is important that the great countries help in this situation.
The most important change that it must do the world at this moment is to help to stop the global warming, and the majority of the great countries does not collaborate in this goal.
The world has the knowledge and the education of what it is the global warming and of how to stop it, but the world does not do the sufficient thing to stop it.
Quote # 2:
We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not yet learned the simple art of living together as brothers.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Related to previous famous quote, the world never is going to change positively if we do not learn to live together as brothers.
We have learned infinity of things, we have invented countless of things, we have high technology, but we continue without understanding that we are in the same planet and we must learn to live as brothers.

 Quote # 3:
It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. Abraham Lincoln

About this quote, I can say that it is better to remain quiet than to say something that will make us seem as idiots.
We must think what we are going to say, but if we are going to say something useless, it is better to be quiet.

Who Moved My Cheese?

An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in My Work and in My Life.
This book describes change in work and life, and four typical reactions to said change by two mice and two "littlepeople", during their hunt for cheese.

This is a simple premise: Different people react differently to change. Some immediately move to look for the next thing. Others become paralyzed and have difficulty coping. Still others are in the middle, waiting a while but then gathering themselves up to move on.

Who moved my cheese? It is a common question if you encounter changes in your lives. Being alive means we are in constant motion to ensure our survival. This is what happened to the little people namely Ham and Hew. They are small creatures who act like and think like people today. Haw and Hem coexist with the two mice Sniff and Scurry in their struggle for survival inside the rat maze.
The story began when Haw and Hem found a huge chunk of cheese in station C. They were jubilant and decided to build their world around it. Little did they know that the two mice secretly take a portion of their cheese when they are not watching.
Their struggle began when Haw and Hem could not find the cheese where it is suppose to be."Who moved my cheese?". They could not believe what they saw. Hem was heartbroken and refused to look for a new cheese. He was expecting to find the cheese at station C again. What happens next? It is for you to find out.

The cheese was a metaphor in our day to day living. It represents success, career and other worldly riches we possess or desire. When we find our cheese we build our world around it thus, we found our comfort zone. We become obsessed with it and we want to keep it that way. When things are going well, who wants change?
What happens if by chance change occurs? How can we cope with it? Are you going to expect someday you could find our cheese again at station C? The fable taught us to be vigilant and to embrace change. Change is inevitable. We are in constant motion. We are dynamic because we are alive. We keep on coping until our last breath. So we will aim in changing for the better.
